Check Out Our Three Best Camping Spots Close To Brisbane

Van life is fun. It’s a slice of freedom away from the daily commute and routine of the Monday to Friday – whether that be sitting behind a desk or swinging of a ladder all day. It’s some well-earned quality time with your better half, family, or friends.

Most of our hires are couples from Melbourne or Sydney, and they’re often not sure what parts of Southeast Queensland they should prioritise when they only have a few days. So, we’ve put together our three favorite spots to visit when you have limited time. These three camping spots are all less than 2.5 hours drive from Brisbane.

Camping Spot 1

Adder Rock Campground

Location: North Stradbroke Island – E Coast Road, Point Lookout Queensland

Price: Unpowered camping site $49 per night. Ferry around $60 – $100 each way depending on the ferry times. You will also need a vehicle permit at $53.65, this is a monthly pass.

Accessibility: You will need to take a barge from the mainland which leaves from 3 Emmett Drive, Cleveland 4163.

Amenities:

·       Hot showers

·       Toilets

·       Powered sites

·       Washing machines

·       BBQ facilities

·       Dish washing area

The real beauty about this island, unlike Fraser and Morten, you don’t require a 4×4 to camp right next to the beach. Also, getting around the island is easy with sealed roads taking you to all the hot spots. If you do happen to be own 4×4, there is beach driving allowed in some places.

Getting onto the island is pretty easy. It’s around a 40 minute drive from the Brisbane CBD, and once you’re on the ferry, it’s a quick 25min ride, which gives you plenty of time to stretch the legs with a coffee or coldie!

The best part about Adder Rock campground is the beautiful beach with crystal clear water and white sand that sits in front of the campground. It also meets the rocks of Point Lookout, which is THE place to be for sunset, as you get a magical view sitting atop the rocks looking back towards the mainland! There’s plenty to do from bushwalking to fishing or if you’re needing a change of pace, there’s also the Stradbroke Beach Hotel, which is about a 20min drive, good for a cold beer and a parmy!
